Port St. Lucie - A City For All Ages

Port St. Lucie City Hall Port St. Lucie may understandably be a new name to you as the city only came into existence in April 1961. But, in its short history, Port St. Lucie has become a burgeoning city of 150,000 plus residents, ranking it among the largest cities in Florida (recently moving ahead of nearby West Palm Beach). In June of 2005 the Census Bureau announced that Port St. Lucie had replaced Gilbert, Arizona as the fastest growing city (100,000+ population) in the U.S. and the value of real property in the City increased by 42% in just one year.  Less than 40 percent of Port St. Lucie’s 95 square miles is currently developed, leaving lots of opportunity for expansion and growth.

A location on the East Coast of Florida half way between Orlando and Miami affords residents the advantage of the Gulf Stream and beautiful weather year-round.
If Florida means golf and beaches to you, Port St. Lucie is the place you want to be. The prestigious Professional Golfers Association has its winter home here and operates three beautiful golf courses as well as a golf school right on the city’s border. Miles and miles of pristine ocean beaches are just six miles away. The St. Lucie River with its natural beauty and environment flows through town (it was seen in the James Bond movie Moonraker).

And of course, if you are a fan of major league baseball, Port St. Lucie is the home to the spring training camp for the New York Mets. Tradition Stadium is also home to the Florida State League St. Lucie Mets.

St. Lucie County also boasts such other notable attractions as the world-famous Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, a Smithsonian facility and the unique Underwater Demolition-Seal Museum. New hotels, motels and a world-renowned family-oriented Club Med are right here in Port St. Lucie as well.

Educational opportunities also abound in Port St. Lucie. Indian River Community College (rated one of the top in the country), Florida Atlantic University, and Barry University all have facilities here.

Port St. Lucie accommodates every economic facet of housing, from moderately priced homes to higher priced homes in gated communities. It is a community that is progressive, growing and yet sensitive to the beauty of nature.

It is said a picture is worth a thousand words. A visit to Port St. Lucie is worth a thousand pictures. Whether you are interested in retirement, business opportunities, or raising a family in a clean, healthy and safe environment, Port St. Lucie can fill the bill
